7.3 Exponential Map

The exponential map from $\mathrm{\mathfrak{sl}}(3)$ to $\mathrm{SL}(3)$ has no closed form. It can be computed by any general matrix exponential routine. The same is true for the logarithm. Note that the exponential of any traceless square matrix is a matrix with unit determinant.
